This week I multitasked like a pro. For my adventure, I explored my practicum school and the surrounding area, completed a free inquiry, and got out of the house. It was extremely satisfying to complete so many tasks at the same time.

I wanted to visit my practicum site to begin brainstorming and how I can utilize the two outdoor classrooms. The school has huge grassy fields, tennis courts, a playground, a garden, and a small forested area. About a 10-minute walk from the school is Prospect Lake and Whitehead Park.

Outdoor Classrooms

Now that the weather is warming up, the kids will enjoy being outside longer. I went to elementary school for a few years at Frank Hobbs, and I remember loving the trees around the school. My favourite days were after a windstorm because branches and leaves would be scattered around. I would build forts, look for snakes, and pretend to take care of my pet unicorn.

When I am outside with kids it is fascinating seeing how they interact with their environment and what they imagine.

Exploring the Area

Whitehead Park

Throughout my inquiry journey, I discovered there is a PDF of almost every area in Vancouver Island. Whitehead Park has its separate information from Prospect Lake. After reading about Prospect Lake I discovered a connection with my previous journey to Todd Inlet. According to the District of Saanich website, The Friends of Todd Creek Watershed supports many restoration projects around the Prospect Lake watershed area. Additionally, volunteers visit Whitehead Park every Monday at 9:30 am for stewardship gardening.
